Economic Sanctions

Economic Sanctions are the withdrawal of privileges or beneficial trade and financial relations from a state or international organization towards another. They might be general or targeted (depending on the reach they have in the economic sectors and industries of the country that is being sanctioned). They are imposed mostly due to the infringement of international law (sanctions are then usually mandated by the United Nations Security Council) or to the breaking of rules of conduct from an international organisation.
