Preparatory Steps for Your RAIA Application & Interview: Research & Analysis

To ensure you are well-prepared for your interview, we recommend taking the following steps:

1. Get Familiar with RAIA & Research & Analysis at RAIA

  • Explore RAIA’s website and read at least five articles from each category (e.g., War & Peace, Hot or Not). Additionally we recommend you read one profile on the Climate Leaders
  • Subscribe to the RAIA Newsletter at the bottom of our website to stay updated on our latest work.
  • Listen to RAIA podcasts:
    • We recommend you listen to at least three episodes of RAIA(ffairs)
    • We recommend you listen to at least three episodes of The Western Bubble by our Director Dario Hasenstab
  • Follow and engage with RAIA’s social media profiles on Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky and X. Observe our content style, audience engagement, and messaging.

2. Analyse and critique RAIA’s Work

  • Prepare constructive feedback on RAIA’s existing articles. What do you like? What could be improved?
  • Think of ways to turn written articles into engaging content for our audience to consume that align with RAIA’s mission. Consider innovative initiatives you could develop as part of your role.

3. Prepare for the Interview

  • Understand the role: Review the job description and consider how your skills and experiences align with the responsibilities. Let us know which areas you want to improve in and what you would like to learn.
  • Read up on current events. We will likely ask you to give us your quick assessment of current developments somewhere in the world. This is not to test factual knowledge but assess your intuition about international relations. 
  • Know your own story: Be ready to discuss your background, relevant experience, and why you are interested in RAIA. What makes you stand out?
  • Prepare  questions about RAIA: At the end of the interview we will offer you the chance to ask questions about RAIA. This is your chance and something easy to prepare.
