Intifada

Popular Arab term to specifically describe the uprisings by the Palestinians and Cisjordanians in the West Bank and Gaza against the Israeli population and government. The term Intifada is hotly debated in international politics since, on the one hand, it is a reasonable response to disproportionate Israeli occupation, whilst, on the other hand, it as an act of terrorism with the sole objective of destroying the state of Israel.
