Mohamed Bouazizi was a Tunisian street vendor who lit himself on fire on December 17th, 2010 after he was publicly humiliated and abused by police forces. This event sparked a series of revolts in Tunisia, which later on spread across the region to become what is known as the “Arab Spring”.
